The paradox of The Ultimate Shut-In is concrete: the protagonist is almost invulnerable at home but cannot personally retrieve the people he wants to save. Progress therefore depends on the territory he controls, the people he shelters, and the missions he delegates. An ordinary apartment building becomes an organizational hub, adding logistics and trust to conflicts that might otherwise be about raw strength alone.
