He wakes thirty years before that disaster, but his second chance comes with no miraculous technique or powerful master. He is still a third-rate fighter, and his sect is just as weak as he remembers. Knowing what will happen is one thing; gaining the strength to change it is another. So-un must use his memory, the time he has recovered, and every advantage he can find to keep a doomed future from repeating itself.
This regression story refuses to hand its protagonist an instant victory. So-un knows thirty years of history but lacks the talent and institutional support to exploit that knowledge easily. The gap between memory and ability gives the coming return of the Demonic Cult a practical urgency: he has to improve his own prospects and those of his obscure sect before any larger attempt to change history can matter.
