Synopsis
One hundred children are imprisoned on Mount Hyungsan. Only Dan Hyeongwoo makes it out alive. The ordeal devised by Cheon Gija leaves him with martial power fearsome enough to earn the name 'Demon God,' but survival has taught him little about living among ordinary people. The outside world's customs, motives, and everyday rules are almost as unfamiliar to him as its enemies. Hyeongwoo takes a job as an escort warrior with the Henan Escort Agency, learning how to deal with people while traveling through the martial world. His new life has a purpose he never forgets: someday, he intends to confront Cheon Gija and avenge what happened on the mountain.
The Demon God begins after the ordeal that would normally serve as an action hero's training arc. Dan Hyeongwoo is already frighteningly strong when he leaves Mount Hyungsan; what he lacks is a working understanding of people. The escort-agency premise gives that imbalance a concrete shape: someone built to survive cruelty has to work alongside others, read their intentions, and face problems that cannot all be solved by force. His pursuit of Cheon Gija keeps revenge in view even as the ordinary business of travel changes him.
