Synopsis

Deon Hardt is not the invincible warrior everyone takes him for. He is a sickly human who coughs up blood under stress and can barely tolerate direct sunlight. Yet a string of disastrous misunderstandings has made him Demon Arut, the feared commander of the demon army’s 0th corps and a trusted wildcard of the Demon King. The human empire also sees him as a formidable figure, leaving him caught between two sides of a war that expect a monster on the battlefield. Deon’s immediate goal is much smaller than conquering either side: stay alive without exposing how vulnerable he really is.

Editorial note

The joke at the center of I’m Not That Kind of Talent is painful as often as it is funny: Deon’s weakest moments are mistaken for evidence of terrifying strength. His coughing fits, guarded reactions, and desperate improvisations acquire a reputation he cannot control. What begins as an escalating misunderstanding becomes darker when rival powers act on that reputation and Deon has to live with the consequences. The contrast between the legendary Demon Arut and the frightened man behind the name gives the story its tension.
